3+ Ways of folding envelopes.
1. Cool square
This is a really cool way of opening a letter, it could hold seeds, sticker, and other small gifts!
1. Have a square piece of paper
You can have a regular origami sheet of paper, but the really big ones from Michaels, or Joann's are the best size.
2. Folding the paper into a "S" shape
This step is the hardest, you want three even sections, the best way to do that is to hold the paper facing you, and take the left corner and place it three quarters to the right of the sheet. Then take the right corner and place it three quarters to the left of the sheet, over the left side, then creese it down once you think it is nice and even.
3. Unfold and repeat on the other end of the paper
Do the same thing you just did, only on the other side of the paper, now your paper will look like a tic tac toe board.
4. Unfold and have one flap down
doesn't matter what flap. take the middle square and and fold up the corner and flatten, see the link in the video up top for this, it's tricky to explain.
5. Repeat all around
you will do this three times all around your square, until you have a ninja star like shape, inside one of your folded pieces will be tucked in the fourth triangle you need, fold it out and and fold it to the other side so one triangle is on each side.
6. Almost there!
fold each triangle down, and tuck in the last piece.
7. fill
Unfold, fill with seeds, then refold!
All done!
2. Tiny envelope ideal for stickers
This isn't really origami, but it is a great little envelope!
1. Draw a shape like this
A rectangle, then add on each long side, go up, slightly slanting in about 1 inch, then go across to the other side and do the same thing on the other long side, then on the short sides of the rectangle do the same thing only smaller on both sides.
2. Fold and glue
fold both long ends in then one of the little ones, with1 a glue stick, and voila! You're done!
3. Large envelope good for necklaces
1. Get that one big piece of paper again.
You want a big piece of paper in an even square shape, fold the paper in half by the corners/diagonally, the unfold and hold like a diamond shape in front of you, then fold the two side corners to line up with the creese from folding earlier.
2. Fold up and some more folding.
now that you have a shape that looks kinda like bouquet paper, then fold the bottom point up to the line where your paper was folded, and fold your point over that. Now fold the sides in to the place where you just folded the point. Now open your almost envelope and with your finger on the outside, poke the sides in! and you are done! If you want to have a more secure envelope, you can hot glue the point on the inside. fold the top down and that is the lid to the envelope!
Thanks Lilah! This was super cool and helpful :)
